5 min readJul 14, 2020
Side hustlers and people who are just starting out are often solopreneurs. It means they’ve kickstarted a business by themselves and are managing every area of it.
For some people, like me, the goal is to stay a solopreneur. For others, the goal is to eventually grow a team of full-time employees who help run the business with you.
Am I a solopreneur?
Here’s a quick overview of who a solopreneur is:
- A solopreneur is an entrepreneur who is developing a personal brand.
- A solopreneur has no intention of hiring employees, at least not in the next year.
- A solopreneur maintains a lean business with very little overhead. Their growth goals can be met without outside capital.
- A solopreneur is solely responsible for their business. They do not have business partners or investors. However, they often have mentors, coaches, contractors, and freelancers helping them.
- Solopreneurs are both task-doers and strategy-oriented making them a jack of all trades.
- Solopreneurs are thought leaders. They consciously choose to lead an audience instead of a team.
