How to Save Time on Email
I was researching best practices for saving time on email and came across an article by Tiago Forte called “one touch to inbox zero.” The goal is to touch every email only once. To achieve this, we need an inbox workflow.
I started applying Tiago’s advice and wrote this article as a summary for you. There are two categories. The first is reducing how many emails you receive. The second is reducing how much time each email takes you.
How to receive fewer emails
Start unsubscribing to emails you don’t want to receive. Think of it as an email cleanse or detox for the next 7 days. It’ll save you time in the long run.
Start being more conscious of when you’re subscribing. Give out your email less. Make a habit of thinking: “I don’t give my email out very often.” The same way you likely don’t give out your phone number. Your inbox isn’t a trash zone for useless info. It’s a gold mine for strategic success.
Start using scheduled send. When we delay our replies to appropriate times, we can slow down the back-and-forth of emails. This is especially good if someone is filling up our inbox with unnecessary rapport and we want down their replies so we can better focus on work.
